DEEP TRASH ITALIA is a fundraiser club night with art exhibitions and performances, in support of Archivio Queer Italia – the first Italian platform for queer art, theory and activism. This unprecedented event will take over the epic East London venue Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club on the 2nd of May 2014. Curated by Giulia Casalini.
For one night only you are invited to experience the tastes of Italy. A line-up of performances and non-stop acts will be showcased at this unique event paying homage to the best and the worst of Italian culture, from mainstream to underground. Experience Italian extravagance, spaghetti decadence, a Venetian-inspired fashion Carnival, Donatella Botox realness, Pasolinian homages, prescription pill Mona Lisa smiles, Very Dolce Vita, saintly fetishism (rosary jobs included), flying pizzas and much more. Mammas allowed.
A selection of videos, art and live performances from the Archivio Queer Italia project will be on show at the lower floor of the venue. The main room (upper floor) will host SUGO party and DJ Severino, pumping the beats of international hits and Italian ‘camp classics’, from Disco to the present – imagine Lady Gaga and Madonna meeting Raffaella Carrà, Donatella Rettore and Renato Zero… and much (A)more!

About Archivio Queer Italia
The Archivio Queer Italia (AQI) project was founded by Giulia Casalini (co-director of Cuntemporary) with the support of CUNTemporary in London. AQI is the first Italian platform for queer art, theory and activism. The two strands of this project consist of:
1. The incorporation of a database to create a virtual archive of artistic, theoretical and activist expressions related to Italy.
2. Creating spaces and mobile events for the display of such activities (e.g. Art fairs, museums, institutions, street interventions)
Parallel to these activities AQI regularly publishes news about queer and feminism and lists events and activities taking place in Italy.
